EDM / Spark Erosion / Spark Machining / Wire erosion / Die sinking

EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), also known as Spark Erosion / Spark Machining / Wire erosion / Die sinking. It is a manufacturing process which creates a specific shape using electrical discharges (sparks). Spark erosion removes material from a piece with current discharges between two electrodes that are separated by a dielectric liquid that is subject to voltage. The dielectric fluid acts as a conductor and a cooling agent during the sparking process. It’s possible to work to really tight tolerances of up to 0.1 microns; this gives you a feel for the potential level of detail that’s achievable
